The Swedish painters union is now blocking all painting of Tesla cars in Sweden, in solidarity with their brothers and sisters in the Swedish metal working union, who is on strike against Tesla for their terrible working conditions.

More power to the workers, fuck the billionaire!
@forteller OMG, if they can't find strikebreakers, and they for some bizarre reason can't just ship in new people from elsewhere in Europe, why they'd have they have to ship cars 1-6 hours for painting, however will they manage? I mean, that might cost, like, a couple dozen to a couple hundred euros! Surely they'll go bankrupt...
I don't think people like you get it. The value chain isn't in Sweden. The value chain is in Berlin, Shanghai, Austin and San Francisco.
@nafnlaus omg, thinking it's a good thing that people forego their own income to show solidarity to each other, how terrible of me. I'm such a bad person for thinking people should do something to improve their lives. You are so much better than me. Well done, have a cookie.
BTW, there's now six unions joining in in solidarity with the first one. I think that's a good thing, and I really don't care if you don't. https://axbom.me/objects/15c7db8d-32fd-470b-917c-28fb13f10410
@forteller You're talking ideology. I'm talking pragmatism. I'm telling you the results of this: these people will either lose their job or crawl back in a worse situation than they left.
If your ideology makes you happy with that *outcome*, then knock yourself out.
@nafnlaus And what's your solution, everyone should just roll over dead and let the handful of billionaires do whatever the fuck they want with the rest of humanity? What will be the outcome of that, you think? Have you ever enjoyed the fact that you can work 8 hours a day, not 18 or more, that you don't have to work weekends, that your workplace is not a death trap, pentions, vacations, a wage you can actually live off of and support others you care for? That is the pragmatic outcome of unions
@forteller If you want to go after a company, you have to hit it where the actual value is. In this case:
* Berlin
* Shanghai (impossible, CCP)
* Austin
* Fremont
If you can convince the Berlin-Brandenburg employees to unionize, you might have an impact. But thusfar they've not shown much inclination.
