Last summer a man deliberately crashed his car into me, pushing me 7-10 m along a part of a street where cars where not allowed — because I stood in front of him to get him to drive legally.
Today he was given 5 months prison, 3 years revocal of his driver's license, and has to pay me 15 000 NOK.
He got no punishment for driving illegally.
I will donate the money to the local election efforts of the Norwegian Green Party, who is the reason the street was open for people in the first place.
@forteller I am so sorry this happened to you. Were you on a bicycle? I'm horrified. What a douchebag.
@majatomic Thank you. No, I stepped out into the street and pointed at the "no motor vehicles" sign. He was rolling extremely slowly at that time, almost at a standstill. Then he hit the gas hard, the engine sound made the other people around look. Thankfully he was already so close to me that he didn't get up to a very high speed before hitting me, and after the meters I was able to jump to the side, physically unscathed. Almost miraculously.
@forteller Thank you for standing up to him! That was really brave of you. You might have saved someone's life. I'm glad he will be without license for 3 years, even though it should be for life. You should have gotten 100k. At least. Very nice of you to donate to the Green Party.
@majatomic Yeah, he already had at least 3 traffic violations on his record, one of which was driving under influence. So getting him off the roads for a while might actually, no kidding, save someones life.
@forteller I'm glad you survived this crazy man. It must have been scary. I've experienced so many dangerous situations on my bike here in Sandnes, that I've stopped riding my bike.
@majatomic Fuck. I am so sorry to hear that! That is exactly why I did this.
@forteller You brave, lovely man. Thank you! I'll be back. With a camera on my helmet.
