Let's see if I'm able to consume some culture which portraits bicycles in a positive light, this year. And if I'm able to post about it here.

I've tried threads about films and such before, with mixed results, so no promises.

@forteller Breaking Away, an American film from 1979 is a fun, very bike-centric bit of culture.

@VirginiaHolloway Cool! Very much appreciate the tip! Though I don't really care about bike sports, I do appreciate that if some piece of culture shows it in a good light and becomes popular enough it could inspire some people to bike more in their regular lives (which is what I care about). So I'll have to think about if I want to watch more sports focused cultural works like that or not. But thank you! :)

@VirginiaHolloway Huh, I see now that it spawned a one season TV series, with quite good IMDb rating. Interesting.

@VirginiaHolloway Oh no! I also found a Christian bicycle sports movie named Break Away! Jesus Christ!

Seeing how bikes in culture is one of my many passions and God Awful Movies from @piatpod is my most listened to podcast by far I feel like kinda maybe I should watch this? But do I want to!?

@forteller I had never heard of the TV show, that sounds pretty grim, but maybe I'm be prejudiced.

Most of the biking in the movie IS done as sport, but I wouldn't say it's about sport biking. The cycling is more a way to drive the plot, though there are some fun race scenes set to Rossini overtures.
