Thinking I should probably try to figure out myself and my new diagnosis a bit more, I started listening to the audio book Neurotribes. But so far it's just a biography of a man I've never heard of before, and frankly don't really care about. He seems interesting enough, and it was OK at first, but it just goes on and on, and I'm having a real hard time not succumbing to the urge to just giving up the book and go back to just watching TV series.

yes, that’s a history book, it’s not about experiences. Lucky for you, pretty much all the rest of them are more of what you’re after, though. 😀
.
It’s still a great book, good to know.

@punishmenthurts OK, so the whole book is just a collection of biographies? I've never really cared about that, so I guess this is not the book for me, then. Do you have one specific other book you'd recommend? @pathfinder

Devon Price, unmasking autism.
Very good for a lot of the basics and giving you ideas of where to proceed.

best said, I think it’s the history of the idea and “treatment,” of Autism. There’s the doctors and then I guess you meet some families, there’s stuff about conventions, the growing awareness. It’s neither by nor for Autistics, again, except as history.

The author is thought of as a beloved NT friend, I think. Was. and again, there are books by people right here in my feed writing the books you sound like you want.

it’s another way that if you’ve met one you’ve met one, for me, Neurotribes was great and the experience tales sort of drive me crazy. I need to rewrite the world, not share experiences. 😬😇
