It is nice to see that a growing number of people are becoming aware of Arte TV for the first time.

We told you that the service is free, but this is only partially accurate.

It is a public service broadcaster funded by French and German taxpayers. 💸

The source of payment differs between France and Germany.

In France, people used to pay around €140 per year to finance public broadcasters. This tax was abolished in 2022, and the funding of public broadcasters comes from VAT now, an indirect tax that applies to most goods and services.

In Germany, a flat rate of €18.36 per month is paid by each household, ensuring that the entire population contributes to the funding of public broadcasters like Arte.

Some programmes are translated into other European languages, with funding support from the European Union (English, Spanish, Polish, and Italian).

France, Italy and UK order more air defence missiles.

France, Italy and the United Kingdom, confirm the order of 218 additional Aster missiles and the acceleration of delivery of already ordered Aster missiles.

The deal underscored "the unwavering commitment of France, Italy and the UK to bolster their air defence capabilities" the countries said in a joint statement.

Aster 15 and 30 missiles are produced by pan-European manufacturer MBDA.
