First results obtained by the k’niPatn k’l⌣ stk’masqt outrigger (KKO) telescope

KKO is located on the traditional territory of the Similamix People in British Columbia. The Upper Similkameen Indian Band offered the name, which means “a listening device for outer space”.

I really have to pinch myself sometimes, reminding myself that I am so lucky to be able to use such an incredible instrument and iconic piece of both Australia’s and the astronomy world’s space heritage for my research.

A few days ago I visited a radiotelescope, super cool to see one up close!

The centre of LOFAR, the largest telescope in the world*, is conveniently situated within cycling distance so a group of us cycled there for the open day last Sunday.
