Extremely annoyed when I went to the gym earlier this morning, that it was a clear sunrise and I could have been awake to see the comet!

Here is C/2023 A3 imaged over our beautiful Murriyang 💫📡

Image by the brilliant Alex Cherney.

Thanks to Scott Kardel for pointing me to this.

I really have to pinch myself sometimes, reminding myself that I am so lucky to be able to use such an incredible instrument and iconic piece of both Australia’s and the astronomy world’s space heritage for my research.

Find someone that looks at you, the way that I look at Murriyang. 📡❤️

The centre of LOFAR, the largest telescope in the world*, is conveniently situated within cycling distance so a group of us cycled there for the open day last Sunday.

You can read more about LOFAR here:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Low-Freq

astron.nl/telescopes/lofar/

* It's described as "the largest radiotelescope in the world which can operate at the lowest frequencies that can be observed from earth" and it's about a thousand km wide, which makes it a nice example of peaceful international scientific cooperation.
